Sunday: 'Que, Cones and Cocktails
/pork ribs at dinosaur bar-b-que
Sunday, 1:00 PM. Skip the boozy brunch and do barbecue and beers instead (with ice cream and cocktails to follow).
STOP 1
dinosaur bbq
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Gowanus is a great spot for a Sunday lunch, especially with a group of friends or family. The place is massive, so if you forget to make reservations (yes, they take those), a long wait is unlikely. Plus, ribs are much easier to share than eggs benedict.
The best dishes here are the jumbo wings and pork ribs. Sadly, the sides are pretty weak, but the fried green tomatoes are a good substitute. Dinosaur also boasts 20 beers on tap with pints from $7 and pitchers from $14-$30.

STOP 2
back deck at lavender lake
After lunch, head one block down to Ample Hills Creamery, where if it's a nice day, you can enjoy flavors like Ooey, Gooey Butter Cake and Salted Crack Caramel, while sitting in an Adirondack chair on the spacious roof deck. The ice cream is made completely from scratch and you can scoop the inventive concoctions into a variety of cones, including pretzel, chocolate, chocolate chip and of course, the regular ole' sugar cone.
STOP 3
Finish off your afternoon with a cocktail just across the Gowanus Canal at Lavender Lake. Find a seat on the deck out back and sip the day away.
