Monday: America's Pastime at American Cut
/While pitchers, nachos and wings are de rigueur for your typical gridiron gathering, if you fancy some fine dining with your football, American Cut, the Tribeca steakhouse brought to you by acclaimed chef and TV personality, Marc Forgione, is where you want to be.
For every Monday Night Football broadcast, American Cut invites guests to dine and drink downstairs in the Morrison Room, an opulent event space with its own bar, projector screens and surround sound. With dark brick walls, dim lighting and comfortable leather chairs and banquettes, the room is, in a word, awesome.
Being a steakhouse, and a rather luxurious one at that, diners with prodigal propensities will have no shortage of indulgences. High rollers can celebrate touchdowns with tomahawk ribeyes and pricey cocktails, like the delicious "plank smoked old fashioned," made with Bulleit Rye, caster sugar and house bitters, served in a maple wood smoked glass for $20 a pop.
But, you don't have to be a baller to have a blast at American Cut, at least not on Mondays. The Morrison Room menu also features moderately priced dishes, including dry-aged wagyu sliders and succulent "chili lobster" chicken wings, inspired by the popular appetizer from Forgione's eponymous restaurant and made special for Monday Night Football.
"Chili Lobster" Chicken Wings
The American Cut Burger
Also available is the excellent, and normally hard to get, burger. Usually an off-menu item relegated to the upstairs bar in very limited quantities, this thick patty of short rib, prime brisket and dry-aged ribeye, served with beer cheese and bourbon braised onions, is right there for the taking at $14. It comes with a comically sparse serving of subpar spuds, but an order of tator tots will fulfill your french fry needs.
While there's no substitute for the raucous revelry of a local sports bar, catching a game in an upscale space is a nice change of pace and indulging in some seriously good food makes any loss by the home team easier to swallow.
